About the Institutional Repository

The Mines Institutional Repository is a service of the Colorado School of Mines in cooperation with Colorado State University, providing online access to the research and scholarship of Mines’ faculty, students, and staff.  Institutional Repositories bring together all of a university’s research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research.

Users can access a range of content including but not limited to:

  • Journal articles
  • Conference proceedings and presentations
  • Theses and dissertations
  • Audio and video files
  • Administrative and policy documents
  • University publications
  • Data sets from research projects and grants

There are some big benefits that come with including your works in the Institutional Repository:

  • Free/open access - your digital works will be made available to the widest possible audience, free via the web
  • Increased visibility - content in institutional repositories like the Mines Institutional Repository increase your works' exposure and potential for higher impact
  • Meets sharing requirements - satisfy requirements for open access to publicly-funded research (NIH) and sharing your data can satisfy data management planning required by NSF or other funding agencies
  • Long-term access/preservation - a permanent url for each of your works guarantees no more broken links and the Institutional Repository ensure that your works will remain accessible and usable over time.
Content included in the Repository should be considered permanently valuable and works are required to be a in a "finished" or "fixed" state.
