Matlab
Vendor: The MathWorks
Platforms:
- Apple Macintosh
- Linux
- Microsoft Windows
- Sun Solaris
General Description: The MathWorks web-site describes Matlab as ... :
"... a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computationally intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages such as C, C++, and Fortran."
Availability: Matlab is installed in the centrally managed Windows Labs in the ADIT domain, located in CTLM and the Library, and possibly other campus labs. Additional installations may be made in accordance with the legal scope of the license described below.
Scope of License: Per seat lab license, not available for installation on machines not owned by CSM or not on campus. Physics, Math & Computer Science and Engineering have a limited number of research licenses, which may be available for installation on individual machine, depending on the owner. Please see the "Method for Obtaining" section below.
Licensing Mechanisms: Centra FlexLMl License Server serves only academic lab licenses and only for use in their respective labs.
Expiration: Depends on several factors. Please contact CCIT via the Mines Help Center for detailed information.
Obtaining: If you need Matlab installed on a CSM-owned machine, submit a request for installation to the Mines Help Center. In order to request that a Matlab license, toolbox or software be installed on a computer, you must have the owner of the license send you an email granting you permission to use a specific license and toolbox(es.) Make sure they detail what licenses and toolboxes you need and paste that email Into the description field of the Mines Help Center request that you create.
Note: Please do not submit requests to install the software on a single or limited-number of lab machines; the software "build" and licensing on lab machines is frozen in support of the CSM academic mission. CCIT can not accommodate "on-the-fly" lab installations.
Cost to Qualified CSM End-Users: CCIT does not currently charge for use of this license in supported labs and classrooms.
Documentation: Available on MathWorks Matlab Documentation web-site.
In case of difficulties running the software in a CSM CCIT managed lab: Contact CCIT via the Mines Help Center! We want the program to be properly installed, licensed and functioning. If you have questions about the use of the program, please contact your instructor, TA or lab manager. If you would like additional study materials, search Skillsoft and Books 24x7 for Self-Study Courses and/or books.
