General Description: The  SolidWorks web-site describes SolidWorks as:

"3D CAD software (which) allows your team to design better products that can set you apart from your competitors. Each release delivers innovations and customer-requested enhancements that enable you to work smarter and faster.

All SolidWorks and Gold-level Partner software products are fully integrated and associative. That means you can work within a single window and each change updates automatically across all other integrated applications."

Availability:  This product is installed in the centrally managed Windows Labs in the ADIT domain, located in the Computer Commons and Arthur Lakes Library.  Additional installations may be made in accordance with the legal scope of the license described below.

Scope of License:  Campus-wide educational site license for use by faculty, staff, and students, primarily in support of Mines academic mission.   Student home use is included in the CSM licenses.

Method for Obtaining:

  • CCIT is not able to provide on-line downloads for SolidWorks; please check-out an installation DVD from the Computer Commons Front Desk, CT 156-A and see this important note about running SolidWorks from off-campus.
     
  • If you need Solid Works installed on a CSM-owned machine, CCIT will want you to submit a request to the Mines Help Center.  Please do not submit requests to install the software on a single or limited-number of lab machines; the software "build" on lab machines is frozen in support of the CSM academic mission and CCIT can not accommodate "on-the-fly" lab installations.

Cost to Qualified CSM End-Users:  CCIT does not currently charge for use of this license in supported labs and classrooms.

Media: Up to 5 program installation CD ROMs or DVDs.  Number of disks vary by media, platform, and licensing mode.

Licensing: Licensing for this product expires every summer; new keys are renewed/obtained annually.

Updates: Minor upgrades are issued once or twice a year, major updates every couple of years.

In case of difficulties running the software in a CSM CCIT managed lab:  Contact CCIT via the Mines Help Center! We want the program to be properly installed, licensed and functioning.
