Letters to the Library

Hello library folks!
I saw the giveaway y’all are doing and I wanted to give you my two cents. I have spent so much time in the library over my four years here, I love all of the staff and the work environment y’all foster. I always have a place to work and all the materials I need (chargers, headphones, coffee, dry erase boards). I am so thankful to have this space on campus!

I love the library because it has the best coffee in town. I also practically live in the Boettcher room.

I love our library because it’s both a place for me to hide and get work done, but also connect with my peers! And book and brew adds the cherry on top. 🙂

In the spirit of Valentine’s day, I have written my dear Arthur Lakes Library a poem. I hope you enjoy (and enjoy my probable lack of iambic pentameter).
      Shall I call thee a well-oiled machine?
Yes, less greasy, still high functioning.
      Invisible parts moving pieces unseen.
That is why your halls are always bustling.

Cavern of knowledge at our disposal.
Just one click; one page; one book (shelf) away.
Still more beyond your walls, it’s ambrosial.
Smiling staff and cozy spots, here I stay.

Did I mention the coffee? Yeah. Coffee.
      Specialty lattes and espresso shots.
As baristas joke, they make milk frothy.
Affordable meet yum! We love it lots.

Arthur Lakes Library and Book & Brew,
Campus would not be the same without you!

If it wasn’t clear, I love a lot of things about Arthur Lakes Library. As a front desk worker, I’ve truly gotten to see so many of the ways that it contributes to campus itself, as well as the students. On the more visual end, there’s the gadgets, the books, prospector, interlibrary loan, a massive map collection, and the AMAZING Book & Brew. But even deeper we have the archives, graduate toolkit sessions, digitization, research guides, and so much more. The people who make the library work are also incredible, and I’ve loved getting to work with and get to know the circulation team especially, but also everyone else I’ve had the opportunity to meet through my (almost) three years there. I could go on for a long time, I’m sure. My point is: the library is very much appreciated and everyone who makes it all work needs to know how awesome they are. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Arthur Lakes Library provides a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment for Mines’ students to concentrate without pressure or disruptions that ultimately play a long-time role in their academic success. 👨‍🎓👩‍🎓 Our one and only library is a cherished place, and many students and faculty appreciate the study rooms, Book and Brew ☕️, and other things that the Library offers to ensure that there is always a place that people can go to and have a  fulfilling college life.  Every day is Valentine’s Day for Arthur Lakes Library because it is loved every day. ❤️‍🔥  Happy Valentine’s Day Arthur Lakes Library! #lovemymineslibrary💖

Hello Mines Library!
I love the Mines Library! It offers so many great study spaces and the knowledge contained within the walls is unparalleled! I can go to any database or look up research on any topic, any time! I have learned so much about so many topics, all through the Library here at Mines!
Thank You Mines Library!

I love Arthur Lakes Library so much for so many different reasons. The extensive collections, the amazing study spots, and the overall vibe of the library makes me feel at home. When it’s cold and dark and there’s a pile of schoolwork to be done, I can count on Arthur Lakes Library to be the place where my mind can relax. Thank you for everything you all do, I love the library!

For all the great study spaces and friendly people. Makes it a great atmosphere to get hw done and collaborate with peers!

I like the library because it has great vibes for studying and great Coffee shop.

I love Mines Library because it gives me a sort of chilling and relaxing since it is a very organized place to finish my assignments . Also, I love it because I have good memories in it, where I studied for my first exam at Mines with my friends in it.

Dear Library,
You are my favorite place to study. I love to sit in your armchairs by the windows on the main floor and work on calculus, I love to figure out physics with my friends at the group study tables, and I love to buckle down and get into super-productive-work-mode on your silent top floor. I love to wander around your floors and aisles and immerse myself in looking at the spines of all the books, and I love the way I can walk around and feel like I’m getting lost without ever actually losing track of where I am.
Thank you for being amazing dear library, I’ll probably see you later today cause I’ve got homework to do 🙂
